Université d’été 2012

Imagine a city where vehicles, people, objects, infrastructures can communicate with each other.

Sustainable City – Yverdon les Bains 2020
According to the estimates and the expected growth, the city of Yverdon-les-Bains will increase by 8 thousand inhabitants and 3 thousand jobs by 2020. The city has experienced a population growth measured in recent years which guarantees high quality of life. To maintain this quality of life and make it better, Yverdon-les-Bains will continue to firmly take the path of sustainable and responsible development started in 2010.
The coming years will be characterized by the strong development of the region Gare – Lac, also called “New Town”, between the railway station and the lake. In this sense the Municipality has worked on a new Mobility Plan, presented at the end of April 2012. The city needs a new Signage System to “translate” the new plan to people.
The Univeristé d’été is organized with the aim of developing a concept of signs that interfaces with innovative digital media, applications, software and tools (WiFi, ZigBee, GPS or other) that permit the dissemination of information (historical, tourist, sports facilities, theme visits …) in the town. The students will draw, modify or change the Urban signage of the city of Yverdon-les-Bains: planning should take into account the local town plan, the mobility one, the axes of the canals and the Lake Neuchâtel. Particular attention should be paid to the integration of systems with the local environment, both natural and architectural: events, natural elements (as water, most important element for the region), monuments, history, local architecture, but also biodiversity and landscape.

At the Université d’étè you will:

  • meet students and professionals from all over Europe
  • listen to lectures of professors coming from all over the World
  • partecipate to a workshop and create a new and innovative way to share information in the city
  • build a strong network and find new possibility of professional growth
  • see your project become reality and being implemented in Yverdon-les-Bains

Still not sure to partecipate?
